Workshops and Wet Lab

ANZET will once again be running practical workshops and a wet lab in 2019. They will take place on Saturday 10 August, 1330 - 1500hrs.

With more options and increased capacity we hope that you will want to take advantage of these oportunities to get hands-on experience.

How to register
Places will be limited, and people wishing to participate are asked to sign up online during the registration process or by selecting the link in the email that has been sent to existing delegates. 

The wet lab demonstration will run for 90 minutes, and will be streamed live to the auditorium for those who cannot attend in person. The other workshops will run for 30 minutes and be repeated at the following times:

Session 1: 1330 – 1400hrs
Session 2: 1400 - 1430hrs
Session 3: 1430 - 1500hrs

Please ensure that you select your sessions carefully to avoid clashes. 

Workshop Options:

1. Wet lab with Heart Dissection – 1.5hrs
Time: 1330 - 1500hrs
Facilitators: Sean Galvin (Cardiothoracic surgeon), Rajesh Nair, Pranesh Jogia, Sanjeevan Pasupati

This wet lab will help you to understand
- the gross overview of cardiac anatomy, including great vessels and coronary arteries.
- the anatomy of the right atrium and inter atrial septum.
- the anatomy of aortic valve - surgical and TAVI perspectives.
- an overview of the left Atrium and left atrial appendage.

2. Rotablator Workshop - 30mins
This workshop will enable you to:
- describe decision making and indications for rotablation.
- review the set-up and components of rotablation set-up.
- practice of use of rotablator in wetlab model.

3. Complications Workshop - 30mins
This workshop will enable you to:
- describe the major mechanical complications of pci.
- describe the principles of management and equipment used to treat complications. 
- practice the use of infrequently used bail out tools of complication management- particularly. Snares, coils, covered stents, microemoblic devices (gelfoam, microsnares, fat via microcatheter).

4. Birfurcations Workshop - 30mins
This workshop will enable you to:
- describe principles informing single vs 2 stent strategy
- describe 3 most commonly employed bifurcation strategies
- step by step review of 3 most commonly used bifurcation strategies

5. OCT - The Basics - 30mins
Attend this session if you want to:
- discover the principles of OCT.
- know how the catheter and consoles work.
- practice basic image interpretation.

6. OCT - Practical Use - 30mins
Attend this session if you want to:
- discover how OCT works in practice to optimize stent procedures.
- understand what should be measured at pre and post-stent implantation.
- learn when and how to react use imaging software and react to imaging features.

7. IVUS - The Basics - 30mins
Attend this session if you want to:
- To discover the principles of IVUS
- How the catheter and consoles work
- Basic image interpretation

8. IVUS - Practical Use - 30mins
Attend this session if you want to:
- discover how IVUS works in practice to optimize stent procedures.
- understand what should be measured at pre and post-stent implantation.
- learn when and how to react use imaging software and react to imaging features.
