Professor Redwood qualified from St. George’s Hospital Medical School, London in 1987. He trained in Cardiology at The Royal London Hospital, The Royal Free Hospital and St. George’s Hospital, London. Interventional training was obtained at The Washington Cardiology Center, Washington, DC and Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals.

Professor Redwood is Professor of Interventional Cardiology/ Honorary Consultant Cardiologist and Director of the Cardiac Catheter labs at St. Thomas’. He was President of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society from 2012-1016. He has been performing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention for over 20 years and is trained in all aspects of adult interventional cardiology IVUS, pressure wire, stent implantation, rotational atherectomy, laser angioplasty, and trans-catheter aortic valve implantation and percutaneous mitral valve interventions as well as interventions for heart failure including the Parachute device.

His has particular interest in interventional cardiology based research including risk analysis and prediction of events post percutaneous coronary intervention, evaluation of coronary stents, coronary artery and myocardial physiology during ischaemia and the Interventional management of out-of hospital cardiac arrest. He runs an active research team, has over 200 publications, is lead editor of a major Interventional Cardiology textbook (Oxford Textbook of Interventional Cardiology, now in its second edition), has raised over £10m in grant funding and has supervised >18 MD/PhD theses.
